Citizens United to Protect Our Neighborhoods (CUPON)
Dear Community Member,
We are a community based organization that was formed to orchestrate change in our Community.
Our objective is to hold Planning and Zoning Boards accountable for the safety of all our citizens by ensuring that they follow the laws as set forth by local, state and federal governments; to oppose zoning variances and code violations that adversely affect our very diverse community.
There is an ongoing need to contest various overdevelopment projects being presented to or approved by the Zoning Board of Appeals but opposed by both the community at large, and by our First Responders for safety issues.
To stop overdevelopment, unsafe, illegal and overcrowded housing, we need the involvement and support of everyone in Rockland and surrounding counties. We are an all-volunteer organization of concerned citizens. We are asking you to join us to help save the quality of life we all have enjoyed and expect to continue.
Our group meets at the Hillcrest firehouse, 300 North Main St, Hillcrest, at 7:00pm every other Tuesday. We have already made some progress by helping to stop development of a yeshiva in a space far too small for the intended purpose, and an apartment complex in the middle of single family homes.
